How can I stop kids from breaking my windows?

Hi,recently I've been facing continuous window breakage by the same young people again and again,I've contacted the police but they have been no help,I've tried reasoning with the kids to stop breaking my windows by giving them money,they responded with a brick to the face,luckily enough I only got a small mark on my cheek,I'm a really nice person and can't figure out what is the cause of this bad behaviour amongst these young people,it sickens me to think that kids could act in such a bad way,I used to believe "There's no such thing as a bad kid." but that belief is now dead and gone with the treatment i've received,my wife is going berserk,they landed her in crouches for 4 weeks because they left wire on my steps and she feel over then damaging her shin,knee and leg muscles,i've tried using brute force in return by threatening to break their teeth,but of course I'd never do such a thing,any help is very much appreciated
